Welcome This Winter Morn

(Beth DeSombre)
Beth DeSombre
The mass starts at midnight; the snow in the porch light
Invites me to shelter inside
The priest tells a story of God and His glory
I sit in the chapel and cry
The train of salvation departs from this station
But I can't sign on for that ride

Let there be peace, peace on the planet
Whether or not a savior was born
And though there are times when we can't understand it
We'll welcome this winter morn

I walk to the altar but somehow I falter
It isn't for this that I yearn
The candles are burning, the seasons keep turning
And someday the sun will return
We look for a reason for joy in this season
And hope that in time we'll all learn

Let there be peace, peace on the planet
Whether or not a savior was born
And though there are times when we can't understand it
We'll welcome this winter morn

Hallelujah, Hallelu
Hallelujah, Hallelu

Let there be peace, peace on the planet
Whether or not a savior was born
And though there are times when we can't understand it
We'll welcome this winter morn
Welcome this winter morn
